About Me

Hello! I’m Susie.

I have spent nearly two decades working across the childcare sector as an educator, practice mentor, and in advocacy and sector support roles, providing support for educators, services, families, and children.

Where it started

When I first began as a Family Day Care educator, I wanted to make a difference but quickly discovered there was no clear roadmap for managing the day-to-day realities of the work. There were no practical templates, guides, or systems to support the administrative, compliance, and professional responsibilities educators carry.  So, I built my own.

Building systems that worked

Out of long days, real pressure, and the need for balance, I created practical systems such as templates, routines, and tools that brought calm, organisation, and clarity to my practice.

Over time, these systems strengthened my confidence, supported compliance, and helped create an environment that families and mentors consistently described as organised, safe, and calm.

From educator to mentor

After many years as an educator, I stepped into a practice mentor role with my service. Visiting educator homes gave me insight into how others were navigating their work, often in isolation and under pressure.

Alongside compliance guidance, I supported educators with paperwork, listened to their experiences, guided their practice, and became someone they could speak openly with because I understood exactly where they were coming from.

A turning point

In 2023, my family day care closed as a result of a natural disaster. Rather than stepping away from the sector, I used the moment to bring together everything I had learned as an educator, mentor, and service team member, and shaped it into something meaningful for a broader community of educators.

The Organised Educator today

Today, through The Organised Educator, I support educators working across a wide range of settings including home-based and centre-based care, independent and private roles, community and cultural contexts, and educators working both in Australia and internationally.

My ability to support such diverse roles comes from a shared foundation: the universal need for connection, understanding, and practical support.

A growing, layered approach

The courses, tools, and resources I create are designed to be adaptable across different education and care contexts, supporting educators wherever and however they work.

This work is continuing to grow, with a layered approach that supports educators through practical courses, while also equipping mentors and services with the tools and guidance to support educators in consistent and meaningful ways.
